Falco’s Got Moves
Continuing our overview of the new Combat Zone models coming in the Cyberpunk Edgerunners: Combat Zone 2-player campaign box, I’m going to discuss Falco, the coolest driver in Night City. I know that’s just like… my opinion, but I’m sticking to it!
Let’s start with the keyword you probably haven’t seen before: Wheelman. Coming soon, we’re going to be adding vehicles to the Combat Zone. While the 2-player starter won’t have any bikes or cars, I felt it was important to make Falco an expert driver; after all, he’s got more time behind the wheel than anyone else on the crew. The current effect of Wheelman is pretty simple, although it may change as we keep testing the vehicle rules. When Falco is driving a vehicle, he can use his Reflexes skill to avoid Ranged attacks instead of the car’s armor. This lets him zip through gunfire on a bike or avoid attacks that normally pierce his ride’s armor.
But let’s talk about how you can use Falco right out of the box. First, he’s not too expensive at 15€$. He’s also got three actions (a GREEN and two YELLOW). He can cover a lot of ground, even on foot. Combined with his Ranged 2, Reflexes 2,1 point of Influence, and he’s able to stand out in ranged combat. Thanks to his inexpensive base price, he’s a great model to upgrade with a gun, as even a cheap Heavy Pistol adds a lot to Falco’s profile.
While he doesn’t have any gear baked onto his card, Falco does have the Evasive Maneuvering ability. This lets him refresh an Action token whenever he Crits on a Reflexes roll. This can make a movement effectively free as he leaps, barricades, or climbs as long as he rolls a Crit. This is also how vehicle maneuvering works, so that will make him an even better driver! In isolation, however, this is still a very powerful ability. There are even some attacks that are Reflexes actions, like Monowires and Grenades!
