There is no MIN in MAX-TAC

When you’ve got a cyberpsycho to take down, the MAX-TAC teams are called in. These elite soldiers have the skills and tech to bring the most lethal targets down. So let’s call in a strike force and see who we’ve got hitting the table!

As a group, MAX-TAC is an elite force. They aren’t part of the NCPD, but they are of the Lawmen Faction and have MAX-TAC keywords. They’ve also got a standard-issue firearm, the Militech Assault Rifle. This works like most assault rifles, but it can also fire at targets within RED (but don’t gain Rapid at that range). Lastly, they’ve all got an Armor rating of 3, which keeps the whole team fighting much longer.

First up is their Leader, the MAX-TAC Commander. With this model, we see the themes that will permeate the MAX-TAC team's on-the-fly adaptation to specific threats. The Commander starts with 3 Green actions and +2 in Ranged, Reflexes, and Influence at 25 EB, so he’s a sturdy foundation. There’s also the matter of the Focus Fire rule, which allows friendly models within Yellow to trade out their Rapid on weapons for Accurate or Deadly Crits, letting them adapt to targets quickly.

The frontline soldiers for the team are the MAX-TAC Assaults. They have a Green and two Yellow actions at 20 EB, and the standard issue weapons and armor. With the “Takes One To Kill One” ability, all Red attacks against Cyber-Characters get boosted to Yellow. This makes them very effective at taking down rivals loaded with gear.

The MAX-TAC Suppressor is also 20 EB, but with 3 Yellow actions. To keep him sturdy, he’s armored with a big shield for a 4 Armor rating, and he swaps out his Militech rifle for the Hades Assault Shotgun. This weapon is a Yellow-range weapon that can be either Rapid 2 or Torrent, your choice! And if he’s near the leader, that opens up other options. Their special ability, High Alert, appears on the Arasaka Point Man and allows different characters to [RE]act with the Suppressor’s action tokens.

Where the Suppressor is defensive, the MAX-TAC Heavy Assault drops onto the table with a Tsunami Arms Helix. This beast of a weapon is a Red-Green range Torrent weapon with Deadly Crits and Suppression. Sure, it’s difficult, so it only shoots once per Inspire, but it’s a big shot. In addition, the Raking Fire ability allows this model to swap out Torrent for Rapid 2… which can trade out for Accurate with their Leader’s ability if you need the shot to really connect!

Lastly is the MAX-TAC NET-OPS. With two hyphens in the name, you know they have to be good. With the fewest actions on the team (one Green, one Yellow), this Netrunner starts with a Tech 3 for plenty of program options. Additionally, any program that targets a Cyber-Character gets Accurate, making them an excellent choice for dropping hacks on tough rivals… or other Netrunners.

So there you have it, the big-hitting boogiemen of the Cyberpunk community. Push your system to its breaking point, and this is who knocks on your door!

With only a little time left on the clock for the Cyberpunk RED: Combat Zone™ - RePrint and Vehicle MAYHEM Kickstarter campaign if you haven't backed, NOW is the time!!
