It’s Pilar Time!
We’ve touched on the mechanics behind much of the Edgerunners crew, and hopefully, an idea of how they play is starting to form. As a group, they have many individual strengths that keep the team moving forward while covering each other’s six. While defensive abilities are good for protecting your team, so is a strong offense ready to take out incoming threats. Pilar is particularly effective in this role.
Like the rest of the team, he’s an Edgerunner, Merc, and a Specialist. At 20€$ he’s not too expensive, but he certainly isn’t cheap. What he’s really got going for him is two GREEN action tokens, 2 Ranged, 1 Reflexes, and 1 Tech (to start). That makes him pretty strong when he gets a chance to stand still and shoot.
He’s also got the Fast Hands ability. This adds Rapid 2 to his Basic and Pistol attacks. This includes Basic Melee attacks, even though he’s not particularly skilled at Melee. For just a few eddies, you can give him a Heavy Pistol for Rapid 2 and Deadly Crits. By default, he’s got a “Coupla’ Automatics” already, which is an attack that includes his Rapid 2, adds Suppression, and lets him ignore walking fire penalties (great for mowing through clustered opponents).
All in all, Pilar is a strong combatant, especially effective at being geared to adapt to various opponents.
Next up, I think it’s time for another dive into the Netrunners.
