Welcome to another Monster Fight Club Beginner Paint Guide!
This guide is designed to help hobbyists achieve a color scheme similar to the one shown on our studio-painted miniature. Rather than focusing on advanced painting techniques, this guide is intended as a simple, approachable color reference that will help you get great-looking results on the tabletop.
We aren't professional painters, just passionate hobbyists who love miniatures, gaming, and sharing what we've learned along the way. Feel free to follow this guide step-by-step, use it as a jumping off point for your own creativity, or put your own unique spin on the model.
Remember, thereās no wrong way to paint your miniatures! The goal is to have fun, learn something new, and create something you're excited to put on the table.
If you paint your own version, we'd love to see it! Be sure to tag Monster Fight Club on social media and share your finished miniature with us.
We can't wait to see what you create!

Before you start:
- Keep your brush moist, not soaked. A slightly damp brush helps paint flow smoothly and prevents paint from drying on the bristles.
- Thin your paints when needed. Two thin coats almost always look better than one thick coat.
- Let each layer dry completely before applying washes or painting neighboring details.
- Don't overload your brush. Using less paint gives you more control and helps avoid accidentally covering nearby details.
- Start with the largest areas first. It's much easier to paint small details after the main colors have been applied.
- Mistakes happen! If paint ends up where it shouldn't, simply let it dry and paint over it with the correct color.
- Rotate the miniature, not your hand. Turning the model can make difficult angles much easier to reach.
- Don't stress about perfection. Most miniatures are viewed from tabletop distance, where clean colors and strong contrast matter more than tiny details.
- Most importantly, have fun! Every miniature you paint helps build your skills and confidence as a hobbyist.

Ā
Step 1: Prime the Model
Prime the miniature and allow it to dry completely before painting.
Step 2: Paint the Skin
Basecoat all exposed skin with Dorado Skin.
Once dry, apply Soft Tone Wash to the skin to add shadows and definition.
Step 3: Paint the Shirt
Paint the shirt using The White Room.
After the basecoat has dried, apply a thin coat of Soft Tone Wash to the shirt. This will settle into the folds and help create natural depth and contrast.
Step 4: Paint the Vest
Main Vest Color : Mix 2:1 Fade to Black and The Red Baron and apply to the main body of the vest.
Side Panels: Paint the side panels of the vest with Grey Goose.
Step 5: Paint the Harness and Straps
Paint all harnesses, belts, and straps with Hunter's Quiver.
Once dry, apply Soft Tone Wash to these areas to add dimension and help define the details.
Step 6: Paint the Hair
Paint Falco's hair and mustache with Ultimate Cup of Coffee.
Two thin coats may be needed for smooth coverage.
Step 7: Paint the Eyes
Rather than trying to paint tiny eyes, use this simple trick to create the illusion of detail.
Mix:
- Dorado Skin
- A brush-tip amount of the Vest Main Color (2:1 Fade to Black + The Red Baron)
Apply this mixture into the eye socket area.
Instead of painting individual eyes, focus on filling the shadowed eye area. This creates natural contrast and gives the appearance of eyes without the frustration of painting tiny pupils.
Step 8: Final Touches
Inspect the model for any areas that need cleanup and touch up any overlapping colors.
Once everything is dry, your Falco miniature is ready to join the crew in Night City!
